Ondanks dat het toestel op dit moment nog steeds premium is in zijn klasse en overeenkomt met de hoogste geluidskwaliteit in 7.1+ subs, kent het toestel mogelijk enkele beperkingen bij het werken met 4K- en 8K-tv’s en projectoren.

De Classe SSP-800 is namelijk uitgerust met HDMI 1.4-uitgangen, die resoluties ondersteunen tot 1080p en bepaalde vroege 3D-formaten. HDMI 1.4 ondersteunt echter geen 4K- of 8K-video pass-through. Dit betekent dat wanneer je een 4K- of 8K-tv en een 4K- of 8K-bron gebruikt (zoals een Ultra HD Blu-ray-speler of streamingapparaat), de SSP-800 het signaal zal downscalen naar 1080p, of het signaal mogelijk niet volledig doorgeeft, afhankelijk van de compatibiliteit van de apparaten en de content.

Indien je 4K- of 8K-video pass-through nodig hebt, kun je overwegen om het videosignaal direct van de bron naar de tv te sturen en de SSP-800 uitsluitend te gebruiken voor audioprocessing. Een andere optie is het gebruik van een HDMI-splitter of een nieuwere AV-processor met HDMI 2.0- of HDMI 2.1-ondersteuning om volledige compatibiliteit met 4K/8K te garanderen.
